Dr. Sunil P. Ilayidam is a cultural critic and writer. Many books and studies written by him have been published on the subjects of Marxism, art, post modernism and history. The orations delivered by Sunil P. Ilayidam regarding the cultural history of Mahabharata was highly remarkable. Presently he is the professor of Malayalam in Sree Sankaracharya Samskrita University.

Sunil P. Ilayidam has penned several books including Adhiniveshavum Adhunikathayum, Kanvazhikal Kazhchavattangal, Uriyattam, Damitham, India Charithra Vignanam and Athmam Aparam Adhinivesham. He is the winner of the Kerala Sahithya Academy Award, Kerala Lalithakala Akademi Award, V K Unnikrishnan Award and Gurudarshana Award.
