Why Mumbai is Asia`s happiest city in 2025! Explore the survey results, resident happiness levels, and the factors contributing to Mumbai`s vibrant and joyful lifestyle

Mumbai has been named Asia’s happiest city for 2025, according to a new Time Out survey. The annual poll, which gathered responses from more than 18,000 residents across major global cities, explored how people feel about their surroundings, lifestyle, and community spirit. Participants rated their cities on factors such as culture, food, nightlife, and overall quality of life, while also responding to statements like:
- "My city makes me happy"
- "The sense of happiness in my city has grown recently"
- "I feel happier in my city than in other places I've visited or lived"
- "The people in my city seem happy"
- "I find joy in the everyday experiences my city offers"
94 per cent of Mumbai residents said that their city brings them joy, making it the top-ranked city in Asia this year. The survey also found that 89% of Mumbaikars feel happier in the city than anywhere else they have lived, while 88% believe people around them generally seem happy. 87% said Mumbai’s overall sense of happiness has grown in recent times.
Experts attribute this upbeat mood to the city’s bustling social life, dynamic entertainment industry, strong career prospects, and vibrant street food culture, all of which contribute to Mumbai’s energy and optimism.
