Society often portrays the idea of single women as one who is lonely and miserable. In the eyes of society, a woman’s life is deemed complete only when she is married and becomes a mother. The “picture-perfect” family and the “picture-perfect” woman.

Those who chose to forge a different path are even judged on social media with mean comments and posts, especially targeting the women who continue to be single after their thirties.

Now, however, a new study published in the Social Psychological and Personality Science journal has justified the lives of these women. The study has revealed that single women experience boundless happiness in comparison to single men or married people.

The study has found that single women experience a higher level of satisfaction with their relationship status, life, and sexual experiences. At the same time, the study also assesses that women have less desire to be in a romantic relationship than single men.

The paper has also included the experiences and mental state of people with partners for the study.

The study also criticises the idea of singlehood not identified as an important relationship status.

The researchers collected data across ten studies between the period 2020 and 2023 to conduct this study. A total of 5491 people who were not in romantic relationships at the time of data collection were included in the study. The samples were divided into men and women and the subjects were aged between 18 and 75.
