London: Peppa Pig’s family is growing, as Mummy Pig announced she is expecting a new baby, marking a major change for the beloved animated series.
The announcement came during a special segment on Good Morning Britain, where Mummy Pig, voiced by actor Morwenna Banks, revealed the news. "I'm excited to share that our family is getting even bigger because we're having another baby. I'm due in the summer, and we're all so excited," she said.
She added that Peppa and her younger brother George had the "occasional wobble and worry" about the impending arrival, but "they're mostly so excited." She also noted their endless curiosity: "Every day they ask me how big the baby is. When is it coming? Does it like dinosaurs and muddy puddles? It never stops."
The pregnancy will be officially revealed in the final episode of the current Peppa Pig series, airing on March 30, coinciding with Mother’s Day. The new baby is expected to make its on-screen debut in the autumn.
Peppa Pig, which first aired in 2004, has become a global phenomenon, translated into over 40 languages and available in more than 180 countries. The show follows Peppa, her parents—Mummy Pig and Daddy Pig—and her younger brother George, whose favourite possession is his toy dinosaur.
Created by Neville Astley and Mark Baker, the series was later acquired by toy giant Hasbro in 2019 as part of its purchase of Entertainment One’s brands.
