Karisma Kapoor has made a case for red once again, this time in a striking sari-gown by designer Ridhi Mehra. The actor wore the cherry-red attire for an appearance on season 5 of India’s Best Dancer, pairing its unconventional silhouette with diamonds, rubies and gold jewellery.

The outfit takes the sari beyond its familiar drape. Crafted in a lightweight, fluid fabric, the design wraps across Kapoor’s torso before extending into a long, sweeping panel on one side. The uneven fall gives the sari a gown-like shape, while the pleats at the bottom gather closely before opening into a fuller skirt-like silhouette.

The blouse is where the look takes another turn. Instead of a traditional sari blouse, Kapoor wore a structured corset featuring a sweetheart neckline and a crystal-trimmed hem. The fitted bodice brings definition to the otherwise fluid drape and gives the outfit a more contemporary finish.

The jewellery was just as considered. Kapoor wore diamond and gemstone earrings from Mohar, along with rings from H Ajoomal Fine Jewellery and Neha Roongta Fine Jewellery. At her wrists, she layered a ruby tennis bracelet with diamond bracelets and gold bangles from Milo Jewels, Mohar, Neha Roongta Fine Jewellery and H Ajoomal Fine Jewellery.

For her beauty look, Kapoor kept things polished and understated. Her hair was styled in a sleek blow-dry with a centre parting and worn loose. Brown eyeliner was extended into a soft wing, while nude lips completed the makeup.

The cherry-red sari gown brings together several elements without losing the essence of Indian dressing. The corset adds structure, the asymmetric drape changes the traditional sari silhouette and the ruby-and-diamond jewellery ties the entire look together.
