It’s not just an occasion for the women only to celebrate International Women’s Day. The day comes as an occasion for the transwomen too, as it calls for a greater inclusivity. 

While speaking to the Mathrubhumi team on this Women's day Trans Global 2021 fame Sruthy Sithara said "Women are a wide spectrum community that includes trans, lesbians. It's high time we end the trolling and embrace the diversity.". Sruthy believes that, gone are those days when educating the society was the primary duty. Now is the time to actively include and uplift every woman, regardless of their identity, she said. 

This year instead of spreading awareness in educational institutions, she along with her friends have planned to enjoy each other's company and celebrating their right to be recognized and respected as women.

"This day is a testament to resilience and strength of all women including transwomen like me. Three such amazing women in my life who had changed my perspective would surely be my mom, Susmitha Sen and  Priyanka Chopra. My mother was my first mentor. Her hardworking and down to earth nature had inspired me a lot. I miss her on every womens day. Stars like Sushmita Sen and Priyanka Chopra were the ones, seeing whom I realised my spark for modeling."

But amidst the celebration, she shared the dark facts and the ongoing challenges faced by trans women. "We still have a long way to go in terms of acceptance and equality. Even after receiving great platforms like Bigg Boss to prove that we are not inferior, , our community is still facing discrimination." By enduring the harassment online, trans women continue to fight for their rights and dignity. She also added on how some of the 'feminists' don't even know what feminism is. ‘I feel, they are wolves in the herd of sheeps’.

Sruthy even expressed her distaste over the hypocrisy of the society in connection with gender norms as  boys who express themselves through makeup are met with scrutiny, while girls who defy traditional norms face little resistance.

She concluded with a beautiful message to all the women out there-  "on this International Women's Day, let us stand  together transwomen, and all women united. Together, we can create a world where every woman is celebrated and valued for who she is. Be happy and satisfied to the fullest’.
