Biryani is a delicious dish often enjoyed during Eid, and its rich flavors add more joy to the celebrations.
To all the biryani lovers, this Eid, how about a chicken biryani that can be easily made in very few steps?
Ingredients:
- Chicken - ½ kg
- Onion - 3 nos
- Ginger – 1 inch
- Garlic - 10-12 cloves
- Green chillies – 4 nos
- Coriander leaves - 1 cup
- Mint leaves- ½ cup
- Cloves - 6-7 nos
- Cinnamon – 1 long piece
- Cardamom - 5 nos
- Bay leaf – 1
- Star anise - 1
- Tomatoes - 2
- Curd - 1/2 cup
- Basmati rice - 1 1/2 cup
- Turmeric powder - ½ tsp
- Chilli powder - 1 tsp
- Coriander powder - 2 tbsp
- Garam masala - 1 tsp
- Pepper powder - 1 tsp
- Cashew - 10-15 nos
- Raisins - 10-15 nos
- Oil - as needed
- Salt to taste
- Ghee - 2 tbsp
Preparation:
Marinate the chicken in ginger, garlic, crushed green chillies, turmeric powder, chilli powder, coriander powder, salt, garam masala, pepper powder, curd, and chopped coriander leaves, and keep it aside for about 2 hours. In a pan, fry onions sliced lengthwise and keep them aside. To this, add the fried onions and tomatoes.
Take a pressure cooker and add ghee. Add cloves, cinnamon, cardamom, star anise, peppercorns, and bay leaf. To this, add the marinated chicken and its contents, and mix well. Cover and cook on a low flame for 15 minutes. When the chicken is soft and almost cooked, add the washed and drained basmati rice.
Add 2 ¼ cups of hot water. Close the cooker. With the first whistle, switch off the flame and keep it closed for 20 minutes. Later, open the lid and garnish with fried onions, cashews, raisins, chopped coriander leaves, and mint leaves. Serve hot.
