Kozhikode: Noted Malayalam writer Subhash Chandran bagged the Akbar Kakkattil award for his novel 'Samudrasila'. Writer M Mukundan will present the award, comprising Rs 50,000, a citation, and a memento designed by Paul Kallanode, at 4:30 pm in an event held at Kozhikode on February 17.
Samudrasila was picked by a jury comprising writer Sethu, Dr Mini Prasad and KC Narayanan. Novels released in the past five years were considered for the award.
Dr MK Muneer Akbar will deliver Kakkattil memorial speech at the event.
Subhash Chandran, the two-time recipient of the Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award, is the assistant editor of Mathrubhumi weekly. ‘Samudrasila’ is published by Mathrubhumi books.
