
Azhikode (Kannur): A retired teacher set a model for all by contributing 80 books to the local library on her 80th birthday. Azhikode native Padmini of Puleekkandi house handed over 80 books from the collection of books at her house to the library under Janashakthi Charitable Trust.
A voracious reader from childhood, Padmini teacher has been maintaining a valuable collection of books at home. As she did not want the books to be lost or destroyed after her death, she decided to donate them to the library. So, the books will be available to the public as well.
Padmini teacher’s son and panchayat member P Sreekanth presided over the function to hand over the books. Panchayat president K Ajeesh received the books from teacher. Trust convener P M Sugunan honoured Padmini teacher by adorning her with a traditional shawl.
