Thiruvananthapuram: Poet K Satchidanandan bagged this year’s ONV Award instituted by the Kerala University. The award comprises a purse of Rs 1 lakh and a plaque.

The award will be handed over to Satchidanandan at a ceremony to be held in Thiruvananthapuram. A jury headed by Dr Deshamangalam Ramakrishnan selected the winner.

The jury opined that writer Satchidanandan always raised his voice whenever democracy, religious harmony and humanity were facing threat in the contemporary times.
