Kochi: The Agriculture and Processed food production Export Development Authority (APEDA) has initiated the export of 15 value-added products of jackfruit and passion fruit from the state. The first container was shipped on Tuesday. 

The jackfruit products are being exported to countries including Singapore, Nepal, Qatar, and Germany. Passion fruit, nutmeg and jackfruit products are being exported to Australia. APEDA will soon start exporting more products to other countries soon. APEDA informed that the export of passion fruit products to Australia will pave a way for increasing the sale possibilities of the products.

One ton of value-added products of jackfruit, passion fruit and nutmeg were collected at Thrissur to be sent to Melbourne in Australia. Jackfruit products range from squash, powder, dried jackfruit, Puttu powder, Chapathi powder, dosa/idli powder, Upma powder, pickle, chips, fries, and fruit pulp. Passion fruit squash, nutmeg squash, chocolate and pickle are other exported products.
