Kozhikode: Vocational Higher Secondary Education (VHSE) courses will be modernised to make them more appealing to students and linked to emerging industrial sectors, said K.V. Manoj, Deputy Director (General) of VHSE.

Manoj said the renaming of certain courses after they were brought under the National Skills Qualifications Framework (NSQF) had affected their recognition by the Kerala Public Service Commission (PSC). However, approval has been secured for most courses, while efforts are underway to obtain recognition for the remaining ones.

Students completing VHSE courses can use the NSQF certificates they receive to apply for various employment opportunities, including jobs under the Central and state governments, he said.

He added that VHSE students are eligible for seat reservations and lateral entry opportunities for several higher education courses.

Spot admission applications open until Wednesday

A total of 6,505 VHSE seats remain vacant across Kerala. Students seeking consideration for spot admission can submit their applications online until 1 pm on Wednesday, August 5.

Those who have not applied for VHSE courses so far can also apply through the candidate login facility on the official portal, admission.vhseportal.kerala.gov.in.
