Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Mumbai, has invited applications for the Undergraduate Common Entrance Exam for Design (UCEED) for admission to the 4 years, Bachelor of Design (B.Des.) programme for 2026, in IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Hyderabad, IIT Roorkee, IIT Indore, Indian Institute of Information Technology Design and Manufacturing (IIITDM) Jabalpur and other result sharing institutes.

IIT Bombay also offers 5 5-year (ten-semester) dual degree BDes + MDes programme. The option of shifting to a dual degree programme is available to those admitted based on UCEED 2026 at this institute at the end of their 3rd year.

UCEED will be held from 9 am to 12 noon on January 18, 2026 (Sunday). The question paper will carry a total of 300 marks. The question paper will consist of two parts, Part A and Part B. It is compulsory to attempt questions from both parts.

Part A (Total marks: 200; Maximum time: 2 hours) is computer-based and will have questions from Visualisation and spatial reasoning, Practical and scientific knowledge, Observation and design sensitivity, Environment and society, Analytical and logical reasoning, Language and Creativity. Part B (Total marks: 100; Maximum time: 1 hour) will consist of 2 questions to test the candidates’ drawing skills and design aptitude. The questions in Part B will be displayed on the computer screen, and the answer must be written/drawn in the answer book provided by the invigilator.

The UCEED score is valid for one year and only for admissions in the same corresponding academic year. UCEED 2026 will be valid for the admissions during 2026-27 only.

Eligibility: Applicant should have been born on or after October 1, 2001. SC, ST or PwD category applicants born on or after October 1, 1996, are also eligible.

One can attempt UCEED a maximum of two times, and that too in consecutive years.

Applicant should have appeared for the Class XII (or equivalent) examination for the first time in either 2025 or 2026. Students from all streams (Science, Commerce, and Arts & Humanities) are eligible to appear for UCEED 2026. The list of qualifying examinations is given in the Information Brochure.

Application: Application can be submitted online at https://www.uceed.iitb.ac.in/ by October 31, 2025.

Registration fee: Registration fee is Rs. 2000/- for Female Candidates and SC, ST, PwD Candidates and Rs. 4000/- for all other candidates. Detailed instructions related to the payment of the registration fee are available on the online registration portal.

Registration can be done with an additional late fee of Rs 500/- till 5 pm on November 7, 2025.

Downloading the Admit Card can be done from 1 pm on January 02, 2026.

Results are expected to be declared by March 06, 2026. The rank list will be prepared based on the total marks (Part-A marks and Part-B marks combined) in UCEED 2026.

Only UCEED 2026 qualified students can apply for admission to the BDes programme at IITs and IIITDM. For admission to IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Hyderabad, IIT Indore, qualified students from all streams of Plus 2 are eligible. For admission at IIT Guwahati and IIT Roorkee, those with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics at the Plus 2 level will be considered.

At IIITDM Jabalpur, those with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/Biology at the Plus 2 level are eligible.

For the B.Tech in Design program at IIT Delhi, the intake is based on JEE-Advanced ranking. However, the aspirants should have qualified for UCEED in the same year.
