Kollam: Sree Narayana Guru Open University (SGOU) has notified the academic counselling session and induction programme for its students. It commences on December 24, earmarking the beginning of the first batch at SGOU. 

The learners are directed to report at their respective Learner Support Centres (LSCs) across the state at 9:30 am.  Learning materials and ID cards will be distributed on the commencing day. 

The classes will be on holidays. It will follow a five-hour per day pattern. Each semester will have 66 hours of on-classroom sessions.  There will be provision for virtual learning.  

SGOU was set up by the state government, mirroring the union government’s Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) with an aim of bringing distance education under a single roof.
