Thiruvananthapuram: Schools and colleges in the state are set to reopen on Monday following the summer vacation.
The state-level school reopening (Praveshanolsavam) event will take place at Elamakara Government Higher Secondary School, Ernakulam, at 9:30 a.m., with Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan presiding over the event. This year, 2,44,646 children are getting admission in Class 1 across the state.
Admissions will continue throughout the week, with the government's focus on enrolling new students in the fifth and eighth grades.
The final count of admissions will be conducted on June 10. This year sees the introduction of new books for classes 1, 3, 5, 7, and 9, following the revision of the school curriculum. In higher education, another highlight is the commencement of the four-year degree programme on July 1.
