
Thiruvananthapuram: CSIR-NIIST is organising an IPR Seminar on July 26, 2023 in its campus in connection with National Intellectual Property Festival, an “IP Campaign” to create IP awareness among the Scientists, Students, researchers and other stakeholders. Dr. G. Byju, Director, Central Tuber Crops Research Institute (CTCRI) will inaugurate the IPR Seminar at 9.30 AM on July 26. Dr. C. Anandharamakrishnan, Director CSIR-NIIST will preside over. About 300 delegates are expected to participate in the seminar. The seminar will conclude by 12.45 PM.
National Intellectual Property Festival is being organised by Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR) and CSIR as per instruction from Ministry of Culture, which is coordinating “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” celebrations to mark 75 years of independence. CSIR aims to organise at least 75 IP Awareness Programmes as part of this “National Intellectual Property Festival” during the month of July 2023 with the support of DSIR, NRDC, DPIIT and the Indian Patent Office. The central theme of the “IP campaign” is “Nurturing Ideas for Innovation.”
There will be three technical sessions after the inaugural function. Dr V Ajit Prabhu, Chief Scientist and Nodal Officer of Intellectual Property Rights Information Centre, KSCSTE, Shastra Bhavan will deliver the key-note address on the topic “Introduction to IPR – Nurturing Ideas to Innovation”. Dr P Sethuraman Sivakumar, Principal Scientist and Officer-In-Charge of AgriB-usiness Incubator, CTCRI, Thiruvananthapuram will talk on “IP development and Commercialization – Case studies”. Rakesh CR, patent agent and consultant to Daimler India Commercial Vehicle Ltd. (Former Patent Examiner, Govt. of India) will speak on “Introduction to Patent filing procedures and Drafting”
