Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Udan Akademi (IGRUA), Fursatganj Airfield. Distt. Amethi, Uttar Pradesh-229302, an Autonomous Body under the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Govt. of India, has invited applications for admission to 125 seats for an Ab-initio to Commercial Pilot License course, scheduled to commence in July 2026 in two batches. The second batch is to commence in January 2027.

Course duration is approximately 36 months. Progress is dependent on individual performance in academics and flying, and unforeseen contingencies. IGRUA has a tie-up with FSTC for Type Training on (A320/B737/ATR-72/Q-400) at their Gurugram or Hyderabad centres. It is mandatory for candidates who wish to undergo this training to indicate the same at the time of filling out the form for the entrance exam.

Total seats are 125 (General -49, EWS -13, OBC -34, SC- 19, ST- 10). Seats are merit-based. If reserved category seats remain unfilled after 5% relaxation in entrance scores, they will be offered to general category candidates.

Eligibility: Applicant must have passed in English, Mathematics & Physics at 10+2 or equivalent examination securing minimum 50% marks in individual subjects (45% for candidates in SC, ST, EWS and OBC (NCL category). Those awaiting Class 12 results may apply provisionally but must submit qualifying mark sheets before the interview/aptitude test.

Applicant should be single and unmarried. Minimum age should be 17 years at the time of joining. Upper age limit is 28 years for General candidates, 31 years for OBC and 33 years for SC/ST as on January 1 2026.

The selection process includes an online entrance test, an interview/viva, and a pilot aptitude test.

Online Computer-Based Entrance Test will be held on May 3, 2026 (Sunday) at the notified centres. Applicants have to give their option for three centres in order of priority. Syllabus will cover General English, Mathematics, Physics, Reasoning & Current Affairs with 10+2 level objective-type questions only. There will be no negative marking for incorrect answers.

Successful candidates in the Written Test will be called for an interview/viva. The schedule will be published on Website/Emails/SMS on May 18, 2026. The cut-off marks for SC/ST/EWS/OBC candidates will be 5% less than the cut-off marks secured by the last candidate in the General category.

Interview/ Viva & Pilot Aptitude Test will start on June 1, 2026 (Monday). Only successful candidates in the Pilot Aptitude/Psychometric Test shall qualify for final selection. No relaxation will be applicable for SC/ST/EWS/OBC Candidates in the Pilot Aptitude/Psychometric Test.

Selection shall be based on 10+2 marks in Physics, Mathematics and English, and marks scored in the Written Test, English Proficiency, Interview and Pilot Aptitude Test. Selected candidates have to clear Class 1 medical and submit the Class-I Medical Fitness Certificate.

Application fee for General, OBC and EWS candidates is Rs. 15,000/-. Payment to be made through internet banking/ debit /credit cards as per instructions for Fee Deposit. Application fee is waived for SC & ST candidates.

Admit Cards can be downloaded from April 23, 2026 (Thursday). Admit cards will serve as a valid identity for attending the interview/Aptitude test and must be preserved till joining.

Training fee: Rs. 55 Lakhs. Boarding, lodging, and other expenses will be extra. Type Rating Training (Optional - with FSTC): A320/B737: Rs. 17,00,000/- and ATR-72/Q-400- Rs. 19,00,000/-. Details of Financial assistance options available can be seen at https://igrua.gov.in/financial-assistance.

Candidates can also opt for a B.Sc. (Aviation) Degree, which is conducted simultaneously with the CPL Course. The duration of this course will be 03 years. As of now, 120 seats are available under the aegis of RGNAU.
