Malappuram: There is one course that you can be sure will never leave you short of a job- a degree in ‘Funeral service’. This course is available in many colleges in the U.S like the American River College (ARC), Commonwealth Institute of Funeral Science, Dallas Institute, etc.

However, this course is not as simple as one might assume it to be. One needs to learn Chemistry, Biology, Embalming, Accounting, Funeral Basics, Counselling and Funeral Service Laws as a part of this programme. Well paying jobs like Funeral Director, Embalmer, Cemetery Caretaker, Funeral Arranger, etc await those that complete this course. 

A funeral director can make between 52,500- 76,000 USD annually (approximately Rs 43- 63 lakh). A cemetery caretaker earns between USD 40,000- 58,000.
