For the past five months, 128 government higher secondary schools had been grappling with the situation where two individuals were handling the same position. This delay not only necessitated the employment of guest teachers in the affected schools, but also incurred considerable additional expenses, in lakhs, for the government every month.
Meanwhile, the government also issued an order appointing principals in five government higher secondary schools from a common pool.
The appointment of principals for the year 2023-24 was made in February 2024. As the principal is also required to take classes, the rule requires that the teacher who teaches the same subject needs to be transferred from the school. Even after months of the appointment of the principal, the transfers of the teachers concerned had not taken place.
