Kochi: Kasaragod native K Vidya, who allegedly forged an experience certificate to secure guest lecturer posts in government colleges in Kerala, is likely to be arrested as police slapped non-bailable charges against her.
The case of cheating was registered following a complaint lodged by Maharaja's College principal VS Joy at the Ernakulam Central Police Station on Tuesday.
Officials from the Ernakulam Central Police Station arrived at the college on Tuesday evening and recorded the principal's statement. According to him, the documents presented by Vidya are entirely fraudulent. He handed over the documents submitted by Vidya to the principal of Attappady Rajiv Gandhi Government Arts and Science College.
Vidya has been charged with three IPC sections on cheating that carry a maximum punishment of up to seven years. As the crime occurred within the jurisdiction of the Agali police station in Palakkad, the case will be transferred to their authority.
The investigation will also focus on determining the individual responsible for creating the fake document. Vidya also used fake documents at the Government Arts and Science College, Kinanoor, Karindalam, Kasaragod to secure a guest lecturer position there, it is alleged. It is unclear at this moment whether a fresh case will be filed in Kasaragod.
Congress has alleged that she used political connections to forge the document since she was associated with SFI during her college days at Maharaja’s. Meanwhile, higher education minister R Bindu has stated that the seal on the certificate was fake and college had nothing to do with it.
