CBSE postpones March 3 board exams; Class 10, 12 papers shifted to new dates.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will not hold any Class 10 or Class 12 board examinations today, March 3, after announcing a change in schedule earlier. In an official communication, the board stated that the papers slated for March 3 have been deferred owing to administrative reasons.
As per the updated timetable, the rescheduled Class 10 examinations will now take place on March 11, 2026. Meanwhile, the postponed Class 12 examination has been moved to April 10, 2026. CBSE has instructed affiliated schools to inform students and parents about the revised dates without delay. The amended schedule has also been formally issued.
Class 10 papers moved to March 11
The Class 10 subjects originally listed for March 3 will now be conducted on March 11. These include Regional and Foreign Languages under Group-L such as Tibetan, Bhoti, Bhutia, Bodo, Tangkhul, Mizo, Kashmiri, German, Japanese, Spanish and Bahasa Melayu.
In addition, Academic Electives under Group-A2 — National Cadet Corps (NCC) and Elements of Book Keeping and Accountancy — have also been shifted to the same date.
Class 12 Legal Studies rescheduled
For Class 12 students, the Legal Studies examination earlier scheduled for March 3 will now be held on April 10, 2026.
In a circular dated December 29, 2025, Dr Sanyam Bhardwaj, Controller of Examinations, informed principals of CBSE-affiliated schools that the March 3 examinations for both classes had been rescheduled due to administrative reasons. The communication clarified that Class 10 papers would be conducted on March 11, 2026, and the Class 12 paper on April 10, 2026, while all other examination dates remain unchanged.
CBSE has further stated that the revised dates will be updated on admit cards. Schools have also been directed to make necessary corrections in their internal date sheets.
Students appearing for the board examinations have been advised to review the modified schedule carefully and organise their preparation accordingly.
The CBSE board examinations commenced on February 17. On the opening day, Class 10 candidates sat for Mathematics (Standard and Basic), while Class 12 students appeared for Biotechnology, Entrepreneurship, Shorthand (English) and Shorthand (Hindi).
The Class 10 examinations are scheduled to conclude on March 10, whereas Class 12 examinations will continue until April 10. This year, candidates are writing examinations in 83 subjects at the Class 10 level and 120 subjects at the Class 12 level.
