
Kochi: Govt UP School in Puttumanoor witnessed a touching moment on Wednesday when a teacher, Ambili, embraced her fellow student Nasbin Sulthana, an Assam native suffering from cerebral palsy, on the day of her retirement from the school.
Ambili, who retired on Wednesday, walked the podium of stage and hugged her favourite student, who is set to join a new school to pursue her higher education.
Nasbin, who resides with his mother, Jalekha, and his siblings at a rented apartment, is confined to a wheelchair and needs help from others for her day-to-day needs.
Despite her struggles, she had been attending the school since the fourth standard, with the help of her family, teaching staff and friends.
Ambili sees Nasbin as her own daughter. The strong bond between the two ended in tears on Wednesday when Nasbin decided to say goodbye to her favourite teacher at her retirement ceremony.
"Teachers here taught me well. I cannot forget Ambili teacher and my class teacher Mary. I am going to miss my friends Sreelakshmi, Alna, Deepthi and Praveen," Nasbin said.
