The Indian Army has invited applications for Short Service Commission (SSC) (Technical) courses for men and women commencing in October 2026.

For the 67th SSS (Technical) Men Course, applicants should be unmarried males between 20 and 27 years of age as of 01 October 2026 with an engineering degree in the notified streams.

For the 67th SSC (Technical) Women Course, applicants should be unmarried women, between 20 and 27 years of age as of 01 October, 2026, and have an engineering degree in the notified streams.

Widows of Indian Armed Forces Defence Personnel who died in harness, including those with children, will be eligible to apply for SSCW (Tech & Non-Tech), provided they have not remarried.

The notified Core Engineering streams and the related Engineering streams for men and women include: Civil (Civil Architecture, Building Construction & Technology), Computer Science (Computer Science & Engineering, Computer Technology M.Sc Computer Science, Information Technology); Electrical (Electrical Engineering, Electrical and Electronics); Electronics (Electronics & Communication Engineering, Electronics & Instrumentation, Instrumentation, Electronics Engineering, Electronics & Telecommunication, Telecommunication, Opto Electronics, Micro Electronics & Microwave, Fibre Optics, Satellite Communication); Mechanical (Mechanical Engineering, Production, Automobile, Industrial, Industrial / Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering & Management, Workshop Technology, Aeronautical, Aerospace, Avionics)

Additionally, for men, other engineering streams such as plastic technology, remote sensing, ballistics, biomedical engineering, food technology, agriculture, metallurgical engineering, metallurgy and explosives, laser technology, biotechnology, rubber technology, chemical engineering, transportation engineering, mining, nuclear technology, and textile branches are also considered. AICTE-approved equivalent streams for each are given in the notifications.

There are 350 vacancies for Men and 30 for women as listed against each stream in the Notification at www.joinindianarmy.nic.in 

For one vacancy for Widows of Defence Personnel SSCW Tech-67 October 2026, the applicant should hold a BE/B.Tech in any stream. For 1 vacancy for SSCW (Non-Tech) (Non-UPSC)-124 (October 2026) course, the applicant should hold a graduation degree in any stream.

The selection process includes shortlisting, the Service Selection Board (SSB) and medical. The Integrated HQ of the MoD (Army) will shortlist applications based on the cumulative percentage of marks obtained by the candidates up to the final semester/year. The cutoff % of marks for shortlisting will be announced in the first week of March 2026.

The five-day SSB will be held between April and June 2026. Choices for SSB dates and centre will be open for two weeks in March 2026.

For both entries, the duration of training to be held at Officers Training Academy, Gaya, Bihar will be 49 weeks from October 2026 to September 2027. The stipend during training is Rs. 56,100/- per month. Rank after training will be Lieutenant. Primary Arms / Service for Commission will be the Corps of Engineers, the Corps of Signals and the Corps of Electronics and Mechanical Engineers. Candidates may get commissioned in other arms/services as well.

CTC on Commissioning will be approximately 17-18 lakh per annum (Excluding Free Medical cover & Travel to hometown once a year)

Short Service Commission has options for release with the first after 5 years, the second after 10 years and the third after 14 years. There is an option for Permanent Commission after 10 years.

Application for SSC (Tech) Course – Women can be submitted at by 04 February 2026, and those for SSC (Tech) Course – Men by 05 February 2026, at www.joinindianarmy.nic.in​​​​​​​

Those whose final year/final semester examination will be scheduled after 01 October 2026 are not eligible to apply for this course.
