Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India has invited applications under, ‘Biotechnology Career Advancement and Re-Orientation (BioCARe) Programme for Women Researchers’ for 2024-25.

The programme is targeted to enhance the participation of women researchers for their Career Development in the area of Biotechnology. The duration of the project will be maximum 3 years.

Eligibility

Applicants should be Indian Women Nationals residing in India who are up to the age of 55 years and unemployed as on the closing date of the application. The fellowship is co-terminus with the duration of the project. 

Application can be submitted under 2 categories.

Category-I: Women researchers who have completed Ph.D. in any discipline of Biotechnology/Life Sciences or allied areas/interdisciplinary sciences/MD/MDS/ M.V.Sc. 

Category-II: Women researchers who have completed M.Tech. in Biotechnology or in allied areas/M.Pharma/equivalent Degree holders. 

Those who are registered or enrolled in higher studies/Ph.D and/or receiving any fellowships are not eligible to apply. The research support will be provided only to women researcher who are unemployed/not in regular position, for whom this is the first extramural research grant. Women researchers who have received any earlier grant from any Government Funding Agency as Principal Investigator are not eligible. 

Nature of Support

The fellows will receive a consolidated grant which will include non-recurring and recurring expenses required for conducting the proposed research project along with a fellowship.

Project Cost and Fellowship (i) Category I: Up to Rs. 60.00 Lakhs which will include consolidated Fellowship of Rs. 75,000/- per month (ii) Category II:  Up to Rs. 40.00 Lakhs that includes consolidated Fellowship of Rs. 58,000/- per month. The requested budget is indicative only and it is not mandatory to get the complete fund.
