Sayuj’s lifelong dream of joining the civil service has driven him to create a transformative educational initiative. Along with his degree studies, he began delving into civil service preparation. A turning point came when he started teaching on YouTube, attracting a significant following. This led to numerous requests for online coaching, transforming his modest beginning with ten students into a thriving educational community, led by the 21-year-old visionary.

Journey begins
“My dream has always been to join the civil service. As I grew older, I couldn't envision any other career,” says Sayuj, currently a third-year Microbiology student at St Pius X College in Kasaragod. His interest in teaching led him to take part-time classes at various institutes. The idea of owning a YouTube channel emerged as he balanced his studies and teaching. By April 2023, he had launched civil service examination classes on YouTube, receiving overwhelming responses. The demand for structured online classes soon followed, setting the stage for a new venture.

Revolution that started with just ten students
The initial batch that he started had just ten students. Today, his class has a strength of 93 students, each paying a fee of Rs 500. Those students who cannot afford the fees are taught without charging a single rupee. The online classes start at 8 PM and are sometimes extended up to 10 PM.

“Many people suggest that I charge higher fees. However, the current fee meets my needs. I do not need to charge more. Also, I firmly believe that I will join the civil service, and my greatest wish is to teach for free if I secure such a position,” Sayuj states. His students are aware that he is still pursuing his degree, yet they understand and appreciate his teaching.

Personal study regimen
Sayuj integrates his civil service syllabus studies into his teaching. "What I study for myself, I pass on to my students. This class is highly beneficial for my own studies," he shares. A night owl by nature, he often studies until three in the morning and resumes at six, reading leading newspapers and preparing notes. His classes also serve as a revision for him.

Income generation
Currently, Sayuj earns from YouTube and online classes. During vacations, he increases the number of classes and videos, thereby boosting his income. He considers being able to purchase his own car with his earnings a significant achievement.

Family support
His sister, a medical student, assists with some of the Science subjects, providing crucial support. Sayuj's family places immense faith in him. His father, a retired Army personnel and his mother, a homemaker, offer unwavering support.

Building an educational community
“We consider this more an educational community than an academy. We are all united by a shared dream,” says Sayuj. His classes include aspirants for the Kerala Public Service Commission (KPSC). Recently, one of his students secured a position in the Land Revenue Department, a testament to the success of his educational revolution.
