Maruti Suzuki has rolled out the updated 2026 Baleno in India, giving its premium hatchback a sharper look, a new powertrain, a longer feature list and a stronger safety package.

The 2026 Baleno adopts a more modern design language, with a redesigned front grille, updated bumpers and new alloy wheel designs that give the hatchback a sportier stance.

While the overall silhouette remains recognisable, the revised styling elements are aimed at boosting road presence. Inside, the cabin keeps its practical, family‑friendly layout but adds more comfort and technology to match rising customer expectations.

New 1.2L Z‑Series engine, CNG‑AMT first

The biggest mechanical update is under the hood. The new Baleno is powered by Maruti’s 1.2‑litre, three‑cylinder Z‑Series naturally aspirated petrol engine, available with a 5‑speed manual or a 5‑speed AMT.

The model also continues with a factory‑fitted CNG variant, and for the first time in Maruti’s lineup, the CNG option can now be paired with an AMT gearbox — a combination the company says will make city driving and stop‑go traffic significantly easier for CNG buyers.

Bigger feature list: ventilated seats, connected tech

Maruti has significantly upgraded the Baleno’s equipment list. New additions include ventilated front seats, a wireless phone charger and enhanced connected‑car technology.

The hatchback continues to offer a 9‑inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, along with a head‑up display, automatic climate control, cruise control and a 6‑speaker sound system.

Safety push: Level‑2 ADAS, 6 airbags, 4‑star Bharat NCAP

Safety is a key focus of the update. The 2026 Baleno now comes with Level‑2 ADAS (advanced driver‑assistance systems), bringing features such as adaptive cruise control and lane‑keep assist to the premium hatchback segment.

The car also gets six airbags, ABS with EBD, a 360‑degree camera, ISOFIX child‑seat mounts and parking sensors. Maruti highlighted that the updated Baleno has secured a 4‑star Bharat NCAP safety rating, a point it expects will resonate strongly with family buyers.

Stronger all‑round package

With its fresher design, new engine and transmission options, CNG‑AMT combination, richer feature list and upgraded safety, the 2026 Baleno is being pitched as a more complete package for Indian families and urban drivers.

As competition intensifies in the premium hatchback space, Maruti is betting that this mix of style, efficiency, technology and safety will help the Baleno defend and expand its market share.

Priced from around Rs 6.10 lakh (ex‑showroom), the refreshed Baleno is positioned to take on the Hyundai i20, Tata Altroz and Toyota Glanza in one of the most contested segments in the country.
