Aichi-Nagoya: India’s Manu Bhaker missed out on a medal in the women’s 10m air pistol at the Asian Games 2026, finishing fifth in the individual final on Wednesday after entering the medal round as the third-ranked qualifier.

The 24-year-old Indian shooter ended her final with 181.1 points and was eliminated after her 18th shot, when she recorded a 9.6.

Bhaker had secured her place in the final with 579 points and 20 inner-10s, finishing third in qualification. Her qualification round included a slow opening series of 95, followed by scores of 96, 96 and 98 as she recovered strongly to make the final.

South Korea’s Choo Gaeun won the women’s 10m air pistol gold with 246.3 points, setting an Asian record.

China’s Shen Yiyao finished second with 241.3 points to take silver, while compatriot Jiang Ranxin won bronze with 221.6.

For Bhaker, the fifth-place finish came after India had already narrowly missed a medal in the women’s 10m air pistol team event.

India’s women’s 10m air pistol team finished fourth, missing the podium by just two inner-10 shots.

Bhaker had competed alongside Esha Singh and Suruchi Singh in the event. Esha finished 16th in qualification with 572 points, while Suruchi was 26th with 568.

The result meant India missed out on a medal in both the team and individual 10m air pistol events on the day.
