Israel launches airstrikes on military sites in Western Iran, Tehran

Jerusalem: Israel launched a series of airstrikes on military sites in western Iran and the capital Tehran, targeting key elements of Iran’s missile and intelligence infrastructure, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said on Sunday.
In a statement, the IDF confirmed that around 20 fighter jets carried out the operation, deploying over 30 munitions in strikes focused on the provinces of Kermanshah and Hamedan. “The intelligence-based operation” hit storage facilities, missile launch systems, satellites, and military radar sites. A surface-to-air missile launcher near Tehran was also destroyed.
Iranian state television acknowledged explosions east of Tehran and noted that the area includes several sensitive military facilities, including the Parchin complex.
In a separate incident, three people were killed in central Isfahan province when an Israeli drone strike hit an ambulance. According to Iran’s ISNA news agency, the governor of Najafabad county, Hamidreza Mohammadi Fesharaki, said the vehicle was transporting a patient when it was struck, killing the patient, a companion, and the driver.
Iran warns US
Amid escalating aerial exchanges between Iran and Israel, Tehran on Sunday threatened retaliatory strikes on US bases across the Middle East following a massive American-led assault that Washington claims severely damaged Iran's nuclear program. However, some US officials warned that the full extent of the damage remains uncertain.
As Israeli airstrikes continued to target what it described as military infrastructure inside Iran, the US State Department issued a global cautionary advisory, urging American citizens abroad to remain vigilant.
The international community voiced growing alarm that the unprecedented US strikes could further destabilise the already volatile region.
