After losing family and fiancé, Wayanad survivor Sruthi leaves hospital with hope

Kalpetta: Sruthi, who was spared in Wayanad's Chooralmala landslide, has left the hospital, marking a momentous step in her recovery journey. After enduring the devastating loss of her parents and sister in the disaster, as well as her fiancé, Jenson, in a subsequent road accident in which Sruthi was also involved, she is now returning to her rented home in Ambilery, Kalpetta. She beamed with joy, waved her hand in gratitude towards those who supported her, and waved as the ambulance drove away from the hospital.
Following the accident on 10 September, Sruthi was initially treated for severe leg injuries, which required the placement of an external fixator—a metal frame designed to hold bones in place while they heal. 10 days after the accident, she is now moving to a rented house to continue her recovery. Although she can now walk using crutches, her doctor has advised her to return for a follow-up appointment in a week if she experiences no complications.
In a show of support, MLA T. Siddique has facilitated her move back home, ensuring she has everything she needs for her recovery. The MLA mentioned that a special bed and stretcher have been prepared at her rented house to assist in her rehabilitation.
During the farewell, Sruthi expressed her gratitude to T. Siddique, saying, “I’m not calling you 'sir' anymore; I see you as a brother, standing in for my father, mother, and sister.” T. Siddique assured her of his continued support, describing her as the face of Chooralmala’s resurgence.
