Thiruvananthapuram: In connection with the phone call controversy in Viyyur Central Prison, Superintendent A G Suresh has been suspended. Joint Superintendent Raju Abraham has been removed from the charge of the central prison and has been appointed in the high security prison.

The Home Department has issued an order after an investigation into the controversy on the grounds of the phone calls made by the prisoners in Viyyur central jail.

The special branch had found that the prisoners Kodi Suni and Rasheed had made over thousands of phone calls from the central jail and the DIG of prisons (North Zone) conducted a detailed probe over the findings. The report disclosed the involvement of jail officials in the controversy and severe allegations against Superintendent Suresh surfaced.

However, the order released by the Home Department only refers to the phone calls made by Rasheed, while the name of Kodi Suni has not been mentioned.
