TVM auto driver, who sexually assaulted woman passenger in his vehicle, arrested

Thiruvananthapuram: The police have arrested an auto-rickshaw driver for sexually assaulting a woman in his vehicle. 

The accused is identified as Mohammed Jijas, a history-sheeter involved in many criminal cases, including a POCSO case. 

The incident took place on Friday night. The complainant boarded Jijas’ autorickshaw from Attakulangara to go to her house in Muttathara. However, the driver allegedly stopped the auto at a deserted place and sexually assaulted the woman by threatening her. 

Later, the survivor sought treatment at the Thiruvananthapuram General Hospital. The hospital authorities brought the matter to the attention of Museum Police, who then registered a case based on the woman’s complaint.

Jijas, the driver, was arrested on Sunday morning and was taken for evidence collection.
