Chelakkara: Police registered a case against a person who allegedly burnt his dog alive. A case has been booked against Chakkanpadi native Purushothaman (47) for killing his pet dog in a fit of rage.

The neighbours of Purushothaman often complained about the dog which goes outside the premises by breaking the leash. Unfortunately, the dog bit Purushothaman and this provoked him. He doused the dog with kerosene and set it on fire.

When police reached the spot after receiving information, the dog had been buried on the compound. Purushothaman’s neighbours stated that they had seen the accused ruthlessly beating the dog and then burning it alive. They also informed of seeing the burning dog running helplessly for help.

Purushothaman had bought the house and began to stay here only from January 1. The burnt body of the dog had been sent for postmortem and details regarding the death can be revealed only after completing the inquest, said ISHO Balakrishnan of Chelakkara police station.

Police could not arrest Purushothaman as he was admitted to the medical college hospital for chest pain after the incident.
