Neyyattinkara: The parents of Sharon Raj, who was tragically murdered by his former girlfriend Greeshma, have reacted strongly to the Neyyattinkara Additional Sessions Court’s verdict. Greeshma was convicted along with her uncle Nirmalakumaran Nair in connection with the murder, but her mother Sindhu was not found guilty of the crime.

Sharon’s mother expressed her dissatisfaction with the court’s decision to acquit Sindhu, despite her involvement in the crime. She questioned why Greeshma’s mother Sindhu was not found guilty saying, “She and her mother did everything. All three (Greeshma, her mother, and uncle) should have been punished”.

Sharon’s father Jayaraj also shared his views on the court’s decision. While he said they were satisfied with the conviction, he admitted that they were somewhat disappointed that Greeshma’s mother was not held accountable. “After looking at the quantum of punishment, we’ll see if we should approach the high court or not,” he added.

The case revolves around the tragic death of 23-year-old radiology student Sharon Raj, who was poisoned by his former girlfriend, Greeshma, after he refused to end their relationship. On October 14, 2022, Sharon consumed a poisonous concoction of paraquat, which led to his death after days of treatment in the hospital.

The prosecution presented a strong case, including digital evidence showing Greeshma's online searches about the harmful effects of paraquat and testimonies from medical professionals who confirmed the fatal impact of the poison. The court also considered Greeshma's previous attempts to poison Sharon, which further solidified the premeditated nature of the crime.
