Kerala leads fight against neo-liberal and communal policies of BJP: Prakash Karat

Kollam: In the current social scenario, the party in Kerala is at the forefront of implementing the national policy of the CPM, said CPM coordinator and Politburo member Prakash Karat.
While inaugurating the delegates' conference in connection with the CPM state conference in Kollam on Thursday, he stated that the Pinarayi government is attempting to implement an alternative approach to the country's neoliberal and communal policies being pursued by the BJP-led NDA government.
"The last party congress held in Kannur had evaluated that the contradiction between imperialism and socialism was intensifying. This contradiction has become even more pronounced now. Trump openly declares that America is the imperialist, dominant state. However, when Trump says that America should be made "great again," it is essentially an admission that America no longer holds the same imperialist power," Karat added.
"In the current context, the party in Kerala is at the forefront of implementing the national policy of the party. They play a key role in protecting democratic, secular, and federal interests against the Hindutva-corporate hegemonic system being implemented by the BJP. Kerala is home to the only left-wing government in the country. The government, led by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, is striving to implement an alternative approach to the country’s neoliberal and communal policies," Karat said.
"It was on January 20 that Trump took office as President of the United States. In a short period, he has begun restructuring policies in the political and economic sectors. Within six weeks of assuming power, he has been trying to establish imperialism through restructuring all sectors, including the economy, society, and politics," he added.
"In reality, what Trump is doing are the methods of 19th-century primitive imperialism. Expanding borders, declaring that Canada will become the 55th state of the United States, and suggesting that the Gaza Strip could become a resort are all aspects of the resurgence of 19th-century imperialist dominance."
“The contradiction between imperialism and socialism is intensifying, as evaluated in the last party congress. This contradiction is becoming more pronounced. On one side, there is America and its allied powers, while on the other, there is the people’s democracy of China. This is reflected in the current global political scenario. The main political strategy being employed is to surround, weaken, and isolate China. Trump is strengthening this strategy, which includes imposing tariffs on Chinese goods. This is likely to lead to trade wars,” Karat said.
“The death of General Secretary Sitaram Yechury was a heavy blow to the party as we were in the process of preparing for the 24th party congress. Yechury was deeply involved with the preparations for the congress. His loss is irreplaceable. The loss of CPM state secretary Kodiyeri is also irreparable. We will collectively overcome these huge setbacks,” said Karat.
