PK Kunjananthan's death: MV Govindan dismisses KM Shaji's claim; Threatens legal action

Thiruvananthapuram: CPM state secretary M.V. Govindan on Friday said that a comprehensive probe is required to ascertain whether there are more individuals involved in the murder of CPM leader P.V. Sathyanath in Koyilandi.
Meanwhile, Govindan also revealed that the party would take legal action against former Muslim League MLA K.M. Shaji for raising doubts over the death of its leader P.K. Kunjananthan, who was the 13th accused in the murder of RMP leader T.P. Chandrasekharan.

"A heinous murder occurred, and justice will be served to all those accountable. The party demands decisive action regarding this incident. The individual currently in police custody has no affiliation with the party, although he was once a member. He was expelled from the party due to his unacceptable behaviour. Subsequently, he relocated to the Gulf and later returned to Kerala, but continued his wrongdoing. 1. The content posted on his Facebook page goes against the party. The police investigation shows that the suspect had differences with Sathyanath," Govindan said.
Govindan outrightly dismissed KM Shaji's suspicions about Kunjananthan's death and added that the CPM leader's daughter had already dismissed Shaji's allegations.
Sathyanath was allegedly hacked to death by his neighbour on the premises of a temple near Koyilandi here, police said on Friday. The 60-year-old leader was attacked by Abhilash (35) using a sharp weapon at around 10.30 pm on Thursday. Abhilash allegedly hacked Sathyanath inside the temple, where a festival was going on. He later surrendered himself at the police station.
