Haripad: A youth, who pretended to be a neurosurgeon and dialled 108 for ambulance service claiming to carry out an emergency surgery in Thiruvananthapuram, was arrested by the police on Sunday.

The accused has been identified as Anandu (29), a native of Thiruvananthapuram. He has been booked for attempting to misuse emergency services.

Anandu, who distributes medical equipment at hospitals, had to reach Thiruvananthapuram by Sunday evening around 5 pm. For which, he decided to call an ambulance.

Although the ambulance driver told him that emergency services are offered only to those who meet with accidents, Anandu asserted the need to reach for the surgery immediately.

Soon after, the ambulance employees allowed him to enter the vehicle and took him straight to Haripad police station.
