MR Murali to be appointed as Malabar Devaswom Board President

Shoranur: The state government has decided to appoint former municipality chairperson and CPM district committee member MR Murali as Malabar Devaswom Board president. The decision in this regard was taken on Saturday.

The Malabar Devaswom Board consists of Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaaagod districts. The famed temples of Kadampuzha, Angadipuram, Thirunavaya, Thirunelli, Thali, Cheruppalassery Ayyappankavu and Ottappalam Chinakathoorkavu comes under the board with around 2000 in total. There are thousands of employees under the board including priests, those handling kazhakam, instruments and others.

Murali will file the nomination on December 2. By the end of December he would officially take charge.

The presidents to the board are elected through the votes of Hindu MLAs in the Assembly.

Murali is the son of late Raghavan of Kavalappara in Shoranur.
