Deceased Baiju, Gireesh remembered for their benevolent act

Kozhikode: Driver T D Gireesh and conductor Baiju, who died during the KSRTC bus mishap, were recipients of excellence letters. In 2018, when one of the lady passengers felt uncomfortable during an Ernakulam – Bengaluru trip, they took her to a hospital and remained with her till the passenger’s relatives arrived. Both Gireesh and Baiju received appreciation letters from the then KSRTC chairman Tomin Thachankary for their commendable action.

The incident happened in June 2018. One of the passengers, Kavith Warrier, had a seizure attack. They took her to Janani hospital as they did not see any improvement in her state despite making her hold a metal object.

They even remitted money in the hospital before the passenger could be admitted to the hospital, after taking due permission from their superior officer. Baiju remained with the patient upon the insistence from the doctors as her condition was critical. Meanwhile, Gireesh took the passengers and left for Bengaluru.  Kavitha’s relatives reached the hospital only the next day.

The next day, they were all over the news for their timely intervention. Following this, they even received the appreciation letter from Tomin Thachankary.

They were also in the forefront of relief activities during the time of floods.
