Navy Kochi Marathon on December 15; navy expects 5000 runners to participate

Kochi: The Navy Kochi Marathon, organised by the Indian Navy, will take place on December 15 in Ernakulam. The event will feature three categories: Venduruthy Run (21 km), Dronacharya Run (10 km), and Garuda Run (5 km).
“This year, we expect participation to exceed 5,000 runners,” said Rear Admiral Upal Kundu, Chief of Staff, Southern Naval Command.
The organisers mentioned that the marathon will soon be integrated into the 'Fit India' and 'Khelo Bharat Khelo' initiatives. This is the fifth edition of the Navy Marathon, which began in 2017. “The marathon will symbolise unity and joy, as participants run shoulder to shoulder,” added Kundu.
Each category will start and finish at the Sagarika Cruise Terminal, with the specific routes to be announced soon. Participants can register at https://kochinavymarathon.com.
Captain T. Ranjith Sundaram, Sports Officer of the Southern Naval Command; Commodore Sandeep D. Sabnis, Race Organizer; Commander Prince Mathai, Race Director; and Commander Athul Pillai, Defense PRO, also took part in the press conference.
