Kerala CM’s assets at ₹45 lakh; holds ₹10,000 cash, affidavit reveals

Pinarayi: Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and his wife, Kamala, have declared assets worth ₹1.05 crore in an affidavit filed with his nomination papers ahead of Kerala assembly elections.

Vijayan’s assets total ₹45,35,620, while Kamala has assets worth ₹60,58,442. The Chief Minister holds ₹10,000 in cash, and Kamala ₹5,000.

His deposits include ₹37,11,039 in the Secretariat Sub Treasury, ₹5,13,847 in State Bank of India, Thalassery branch, and ₹1,90,134 across three accounts in the Pinarayi Service Cooperative Bank, according to the affidavit.

Kamala has deposits of ₹1,59,963 in SBI Thalassery branch, ₹53,346 in SBI Thiruvananthapuram branch, ₹4,84,109 in two accounts at Madai Service Cooperative Bank, and ₹3,90,720, ₹11,27,795 and ₹2,68,987 in three accounts at Mowanchery Co-operative Rural Bank. She also has ₹245 in Pinarayi Cooperative Bank, ₹4,79,856 in Kannur TSB, ₹5,50,000 in Kannur Sub Treasury, and ₹11,51,496 across two accounts in SBI Kadirur branch.

The Chief Minister holds shares worth ₹1,000 in Malayalam Communications, ₹500 in Sahitya Pravarthaka Cooperative Society, ₹100 in Pinarayi Industrial Cooperative Society, and ₹1 lakh in Kannur International Airport. Kamala holds shares worth ₹20,000 in Malayalam Communications and ₹2 lakh in Kannur International Airport, along with a recurring deposit of ₹10,000 at Azhiyoor Post Office and 10 sovereigns of gold. Pinarayi Vijayan owns 58 cents of land in Pinarayi and 20 cents in Kelaloor. Kamala owns 17.5 cents of land in Onchiyam.

In the previous election, Pinarayi had declared ₹10,000 cash and total assets of ₹54,41,081, including ₹2,78,603 in bank deposits. Kamala had 10 sovereigns of gold and a loan of ₹7,95,000 from Mowanchery Co-operative Bank.

The Chief Minister, the Left Democratic Front candidate in Dharmadam constituency, filed his nomination on Thursday before the returning officer Sachin Krishnan at the district registrar’s office.
