‘Slapped, kicked, arms twisted’: 14 students booked for ragging juniors at Kasaragod school

Kasaragod, Kerala: Fourteen Plus Two students have been booked for allegedly ragging and assaulting five Plus One students at Bekur Higher Secondary School in Uppala.

According to the complaint, the seniors allegedly stopped the juniors near the staircase when they were entering the school after lunch and assaulted them.

The students were reportedly targeted for wearing shoes to school and leaving the top button of their shirts open.

One of the students who was assaulted said the seniors twisted his arms behind his back, slapped him on the cheek and kicked him with their shoes.

Manjeshwar police registered a case against the 14 Plus Two students following a complaint filed by the school principal. The school management has suspended four of the students.

The same school has previously faced complaints related to ragging, with the management taking disciplinary action against students on several occasions. Police have launched an investigation into the incident.
