Kannur bomb explosion: Security beefed up at Seena’s house amid alleged CPM threats

Kannur: The police have intensified surveillance in and around the residence of Seena, who was very vocal in criticising the CPM following the death of an elderly man in a bomb explosion at Eranholi here, after she alleged that CPM workers arrived there to threaten her family members.

According to Seena, three members, including a panchayat member, arrived at her home on Wednesday night. At the time, Seena was not present there as she stayed intermittently between her mother's house at Eranholi and her husband's residence at Thalassery. 

Seena had alleged that her mother was asked by the CPM leaders to counsel her. 

“I understand what that means. We have lived among the party members for so long. I have a good understanding of what they will do and say. I am not afraid. When my mother asked those who came to the house, 'Are you going to kill us?', the answer was just a smile," Seena said. 

Seena had recently expressed fearlessness despite the pressure from the CPM, stating that truth-telling should not be feared, even if it leads to dire consequences.

The CPM, on the other hand, in response to the allegations, has firmly denied any involvement in the explosion. 

Meanwhile, a thorough search involving specialised bomb squads from nearby regions for explosives continues across various locations in Kannur district. Police, under the leadership of Thalassery ASP K S Shahanshah and Inspector Biju Antony, are meticulously inspecting vacant plots and uninhabited houses in the wake of the explosion.
