Hajj applications: Only four days left, 22,752 applications received so far

Kozhikode: With only four days remaining to apply for Hajj, a total of 22,752 applications have been received so far, according to the Kerala State Haj Committee. As the final phase of application submission is underway, the Karipur Haj House remains open even on holidays to accommodate the rush.
All applications received to date are being meticulously verified based on priority at the Kondotty State Haj Office. Currently, the process of issuing cover numbers is in progress at the Haj House.
Among the 22,752 applications received:
• 4,512 are from applicants above the age of 65,
• 3,016 are from category of women applying without a mahram (male guardian),
• 885 applicants are from the waiting list of the previous year.
All these categories will get chances without any draw. The general category has received 14,389 applications. The window for submitting applications will remain open for only four more days.
This year, the number of applicants opting to travel for Hajj via Karipur has been comparatively low. One of the key reasons cited is the higher airfare from Karipur compared to other embarkation points over the past two years.
Dr. Hussain Saqafi Chullikkod, Chairman of the Kerala State Haj Committee, confirmed that the committee is actively overseeing the process to lower airfares for the commutation.
