Govt won't cancel pension of ministers' staff: Kodiyeri

Thiruvananthapuram: CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan has declared that the government has no plans to cancel the pension promised to ministers' personal staff. He also rubbished the allegations against the government for compromising with the governor's demands in connection with the policy address. He pointed out that the media misinterpreted the government's efforts to solve an administrative crisis.
"Even the party is against the post of Governor in the state. As the federal system of the government demands the position, we are compromising with it. Governor and government should not lock horns with each other. Both should go hand in hand. Governor will seek an explanation over matters and rectify them. We have no plans to fight with the governor. The public has realised the governor's stance now," said Kodiyeri while addressing the media here on Sunday.
When asked about CM's visit to the governor without informing the party leadership, Kodiyeri stated that there is no need to inform the matter to political leadership.
"The Chief Minister is not discussing all these matters with CPM. He is taking action to resolve such issues as being the CM of the state," he added.
He also reacted to CPI's stance over the government's move to compromise with the governor.
"We can't think that CPI joined the opposition as they disclosed their opinion. Both parties will have different opinions. it is quite natural. We will stand together irrespective of differences of opinion in various matters," he pointed out.
The CPM leader also asserted that the retirement age will not be increased in the state as a huge number of rank holders are waiting for the appointment.
