Tamil Nadu tea seller's generous gesture raises Rs 44,700 for Wayanad landslide victims

Chennai: In a heartwarming gesture, a kind hearted tea seller from Tamil Nadu raised money to support the victims of the recent landslide in Wayanad.

Shivakumar (43), who runs the Bhagavan Tea Stall in Mettupatti village, Pudukkottai district, raised Rs 44,700 in just 12 hours to help the victims of Wayanad landslides to help in rehabilitation. 

Shivakumar organised a special event known as 'Moi Virundhu’, a traditional communal feast where villagers gather to share a meal and contribute to a good cause. Throughout the day, Shivakumar provided free tea to everyone who visited his shop, inviting them to donate whatever they could to the collection box placed inside.

By 6:30 pm in the evening, when the event ended, Shivakumar opened the box and counted the donations in front of the villagers. The contributions totaled Rs 44,700.
Shivakumar planned to personally hand over the donation to Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. However, in the selfless gesture, he decided to add the travel fare he would have spent to reach Kerala to the relief fund instead.

According to the villagers, this is not the first time Shivakumar has extended his generosity. Since 2018, he has been actively involved in various philanthropic efforts, always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need.
