Cartoon played on laptop proved a crucial breakthrough for investigative team

Kollam: A crucial breakthrough came with the cartoon videos that was shown on the laptop in the case where a 6-year-old girl was abducted from Oyoor. The police had been searching for details relating to the computer seen by the girl, on the day she was abducted. On the night of November 27, the police searched for details regarding the computers that had viewed cartoons, the time, etc. Police received the information on this and it is learnt that the cartoon was viewed from Padmakumar's laptop at his house.

The blue colour car, which brought the child to the city of Kollam, also became the focus of the investigation team. The criminal gang had abducted the girl in a white car on November 27 when she was on her way to the tuition centre. After spending the night at a house, they took the girl to Kollam city in a blue car the next day and abandoned her, according to the statement of the child.

The investigation into the financial transactions related to the girl's father also led the investigation team to reach the suspects. Padmakumar was financially stable but of late he was in financial distress. A person from Ayiroor had identified the man from the sketches provided and gave information to the police. The police also received information about the man from Facebook. Ever since the sketches were released, Padmakumar's family has been on the run ever since the police intensified the search and was apparently making himself ready to leave the state.

The autorickshaw that was used to buy groceries from the shop of Girija at Kizhakkanelayil in Parippally played a helpful role in the investigation. The two persons of the abduction group, had traveled in Salahudeen's autorickshaw from Parippally. Salahudeen, who had not initially known that these persons were part of the group that had abducted the child, later panicked when he came to know about it. Salahudeen said that he did not inform the police about this information initially due to fear.

The auto driver left the group, after buying groceries from Kizhakkanelayil, at Kaatuputhusseri. Salahudeen charged Rs 100 for the auto ride. The autorickshaw was later found after examining numerous CCTV cameras. Girija had given specific details about the person who came to buy items and the vehicle. The details helped the investigation team to the autorickshaw driver Salahudeen.

The police were able to find the house of the accused only with the help of the autorickshaw driver. He was brought to the Kollam rural SP's office and questioned. The autorickshaw has been seized and is kept at the cyber cell office.
