Kochi stage mishap: Police record arrest of Mridanga Vision proprietor after 7.5-hour quizzing

Kochi: The Kochi City Police recorded the arrest of M Nigosh Kumar, the proprietor of Mridanga Vision, on Thursday night in connection with the mishap at the Kaloor stadium during a mass dance event. The incident occurred during the inauguration of the event when Uma Thomas, MLA, fell from a temporary stage and sustained serious injuries.
Nigoshkumar, along with four other individuals, is facing charges of criminal negligence and attempted culpable homicide. After a seven-and-a-half-hour interrogation at Palarivattom Police Station, he was taken into custody. The case was registered by the Palarivattom police.
Legal suit
The Kerala High Court had earlier directed Nigoshkumar to appear before the authorities. The charges against him include sections from the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), such as Sections 125 (actions endangering personal safety), 125(b) (causing grievous hurt), and 3(5) (joint criminal liability). Additionally, charges under Section 118(e) of the Kerala Police Act, 2011, for endangering public safety have been added.
