High demand spurs AirAsia to consider expanding Kozhikode-Kuala Lumpur flight services

The flight service operated by AirAsia from Kozhikode International Airport to Kuala Lumpur has proven highly successful, with ticket bookings for September and October nearly complete.
Due to the high demand, AirAsia is planning to expand its services and has submitted an application to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) for approval.
The service between Kuala Lumpur and Kozhikode was launched on August 2. AirAsia currently operates flights from Kuala Lumpur to Kozhikode on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, with return flights from Kozhikode to Kuala Lumpur on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. The airline aims to offer daily flights in the near future.
In addition to expanding its Kuala Lumpur service, AirAsia is also exploring options to extend its routes to Bangkok, Thailand, and Singapore. Other airlines, including Malaysia Air, Malindo Air, Batik Air, and Silk Air, have expressed interest in adding competitive services from Kozhikode.
AirAsia launched the service in Kozhikode by offering tickets for less than Rs 6,000. Meanwhile, Air Lanka and Maldives Airlines are also in the process of exploring new services from Kozhikode Airport.
