Volvo buses to be replaced by electric buses on Bengaluru airport route

Bengaluru: The Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) is set to replace its Volvo buses on the route to Kempegowda International Airport with electric buses. This change is expected to take place by next month. The decision follows the growing financial losses faced by the Volvo bus service.
The Volvo bus service, which has been operating for several years, has become a financial burden for BMTC. The corporation hopes that the introduction of electric buses will not only reduce pollution but also lower operational costs.
This move is part of BMTC's broader effort to enhance Bengaluru's public transport system and make it more environmentally friendly. To replace the current fleet of Volvo buses, BMTC will introduce 320 new AC electric buses in the city. These buses, provided by Ashok Leyland, are expected to contribute to a cleaner, more sustainable public transport network.
