2 killed, several injured after speeding car mows down pedestrians in Gujarat; driver held

Gandhinagar (Gujarat): At least two people were killed and several others injured after a speeding vehicle ran them over in Gandhinagar, according to a PTI report.

The driver, who attempted to flee the scene, was apprehended shortly after the incident.

Infocity Police Station informed the accused appeared to be under the influence of alcohol and has been taken into custody. 

Speaking to reporters, SP Gandhinagar, Ravi Teja Vasamsetty said, "Around 10:30 am, the accused, Hitesh Patel was seen overspeeding. He hit around 5 people with his car. Three are undergoing treatment while two have died... The investigation is going on... FSL team is on the spot...”

An investigation is currently underway.
